A bit about me…
My name is Tania and I am the Naturopath here at Tonify Health & Wellness. I’m a mum of two boys, I live in the beautiful Adelaide hills (although I am a beach person at heart). I love what I do, but in particular, I love to help women and mums. I walk that path every day and I know it’s a tough gig!
Life experience has brought me to this point of becoming a practicing naturopath from a career in the corporate world. You can’t get to my age and not have experienced many of life’s greatest ups and downs. When I reflect, it’s these experiences that have shaped me as the practitioner I am. The other factor is my love of food - cooking, eating, sharing, experimenting.
Food is a big part of my life and I strongly believe that good food is cornerstone to our health. It doesn’t mean I’m a total health nut, but I recognise what good, nourishing, wholesome, real food can do for your health and this is what I want to share with my patients. Having said that…balance is key….because, let’s face it, life is a LOT better with a cheese platter in it!
My priority with all my patients first and foremost is to provide them with a safe space to open up and share their journey. I want to understand them; not just their medical history, but their family history, lifestyle, diet, what they love to do, what makes them tick, what they avoid. It’s then my job to use all that information to create a plan for their health that they can achieve, sustain and most of all ultimately enjoy!
It can be a big decision to see a naturopath for your health concerns. There are a LOT of misconceptions about what we do, and a big part of what I want to achieve is to spread the word about the benefits of seeing a qualified naturopath. Contrary to what so many believe, we have gone through years of education to achieve our level of knowledge. We understand the pathophysiology of disease, the pharmacological treatments, the cause and effect relationship within your body and the impacts of nutritional and lifestyle choices. Our approach is holistic and personalised - and this is what sets us apart. We have access to a range of tests to help diagnose and the knowledge and ability to prescribe evidence-based herbal medicines and nutraceuticals if required. But my first level of intervention is always aimed at being the least invasive - changes you can introduce straight away with your diet or lifestyle that are going to have the maximum positive effect.
If you’re unsure about whether seeing a naturopath is right for you, feel free to contact me for a chat. I hope to meet you sometime soon.
